Postcards from Wakefield

When:- 29 May 2019
Time:- 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Where:- Wakefield Westgate Unitarians

Wakefield
The Positive Mental Health Network (Wakefield) developed a project called Postcards from Wakefield District.

The idea was for network members to fill in postcards giving words of encouragement and inspiration to people who may be suffering from poor mental health, to give them a boost and let them know they are not alone.

The Network showcased these around the district during Mental Health Week and encouraged members of the public to write their own. The Network also produced a ‘Book in 8 minutes’, a film and a directory of the mental health network members.

Come along to look at some of our postcards, view the film and see some of the positive things the network has done.

YUU Event:

Desperate Mezzos

When:- 31 May 2019
Time:- 12:30pm
Where:- York Unitarians

York Con
The Last Friday concert this month is on 31st May at 12.30 p.m. with “Desperate Mezzos”. Tickets £5 at the door.

A lunchtime concert of evening-themed songs from the sublime to the ridiculous in support of York Opera! You may have noticed that the plum opera roles go to the higher female voices. “Desperate Mezzos” was formed in 2017 to challenge this notion and give three lovely mezzos the opportunity to sing together and have some fun at the same time.

Vicki has sung with the choruses of Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park; Becky and Val have trained at Leeds College of Music; and all three attended the Royal Northern College of Music.

Their repertoire is not limited to Opera. Come along and you may hear musical theatre or Flanders & Swann – a programme with something for everyone.
